New Year's Eve and it's hard to believe
another zodiac has gone around.

While you drank yourself high on hoping
and watched the ceiling spin from the ground.

Counting down from ten it's time
to make your annual prayer.

Secret santa in the sky
when will I get my share?

Then you tell yourself
what you want to hear.

Cause you have to believe.

This will be my year.

This will be my year...Semisonic

Okay, where have I been? It's been sweltering and we've been busy.

Gilly and I had a late night in the city on Friday. Had dinner with AC at a
Mexican joint featuring guacamole that they make in this huge stone bowl
right at your table.

Had a bit of an argument as to whether we had indeed gotten the "spicy"
version which we had requested. I kept saying it wasn't because it wasn't
doing a thing for me, but AC and Gilly were adamant that it was because they
were sweltering.

The place had a 120 kinds of tequila and out of three people, guess how many
at our table actually enjoy/can drink tequila based drinks? ONE and that
would be Gilly. Mind you they don't give you your margarita in a margarita
glass (it is Manhattan of course) so he had to drink his in an old fashion
glassed. Weird.

But dinner was great and AC loved the custom t-shirt that I had made for her
and well we later found out what all the sweltering was about. The air
conditioning was broken!!!

We got home at about 1:30ish. Not too bad.

Saturday so very very very hot. I don't even remember what I did. Other
than find the perfect color nail polish for my brother's wedding.

And that evening we rented three (3) movies. That is after we had an
argument at dinner about whether the dreadlocked clerk in the movie rental
place was always mean or not.

Gilly kept telling me he was surly and unfriendly. I told him he was crazy
and that I thought he was always quite pleasant.

Well we went in Saturday night and got a very loud, "GOOD EVENING!" from
him. Ahem. Gilly claimed it was because his "girlfriend" was there. AKA
the co-worker with whom he flirts with though she has a boyfriend (probably
of the none dreadlocked sort).

Anywho...we rented (and see if you can guess who each move was for):
Old School
Win a Date with Tad Hamilton
The Magdalene Sisters

Hmmmm, I don't think it should be too hard. I watched Tad on Saturday night
(not nearly as cheesy as I had suspected) and Gill watched Old School last
night while I had The Magdalene Sisters on my laptop.

Okay, every movie I've ever seen and every book I've ever read based on life
in Ireland has been dreary and depressing. Mind you my mom is 1/2 Irish
(making me 1/4) and Gilly is a big chunk of Irish as well. How happy am I
to have been born an American? More happy than you could ever imagine.

It's no wonder a lot of people have such a negative perception of the
Catholic church because based on The Magdalene Sisters I'd have one too.
Though I know that those severely horrific scenarios are just scenarios
chosen for their cinematic appeal and not necessary illustrations of the
norm.

A rough film to say the least AND a true one at that!
