Little Squaw: Where a good girl goes to rant.
Long time no Squaw. Monday, June 21, 2004And so ends my Fountains of Wayne rant...for now.So he who shall be hence forth known as "Guilty Party" called me today at work to tell me about his adventures. And the long and short of it is that he ended up drinking with Fountains of Wayne. This is where I interject that he kept refering to them by the wrong names AND the wrong instruments. Once I saw the photos I told him that he was talking to Jody the "guitarist" not the Brian the drummer. I am not going to dish the dirt he said about all of them and who was with who and if there were girls involved. This is not about the boys...it's about the Guilty Party. The usual suspects were acting up. That's all I'll say. What I will say is that I was extremely disappointed with how he approached the, "My friend is your biggest fan" subject. And at the end of the night there were no personal notes, no voice mails left and he went home with an autographed guitar, that when push came to shove he refused to give up to the true fan, moi. I should clarify that not all my friends treat me so poorly. One of my other co-workers was at an event which featured an autograph signing (it was for his channel). The chick signing autographs ran out of photographs before he had a chance to get my one of my friends one. So he filmed a mpeg of her on his digital camera saying hello to our friend. That's a good guy. Then again the guy the mpeg was for would have put Chris in a headlock and forced him to call me. That is why I can say that I love him. Because he would do something for me like that. Something that I would do for him regardless of my need to be "cool". When I said to the Guilty Party..."You know we wouldn't even be having this conversation if I had come in today to find a voicemail from Chris." and he said that he thought about doing that but... I said, "Well I would have done it for you. For example when I saw Matthew Broderick on the street I guilted him into wishing my best friend a happy birthday over the phone." SO THERE! I do the same thing for any of you four readers of mine...actually one of you was the Matthew Broderick best friend so I've already made good on that. He realized that he was going to lose the conversation. At one point I said, "I am not even being that bad. You should be happy we're not in a relationship." And he responded, "Well if we were in a relationship you would have been there with me!" And I countered with, "Actually your last relationship was long distance so you'd be wrong on that point wouldn't you?" He had to admit that I had him there. He claimed that they remembered who I was. That the manager remembered the "shirt" and that he either called me a mega fan or a fanatic. Either way, I think it's pretty gay that he gave the Guilty Party his info and told him to call him about going to the Summerfest show. I also think that it's sad that the Guilty Party had to say where he "worked" and I am sure he didn't add the Networks at the end. Everyone always sticks to the first three letters. And he gave Chris his email address, blah, blah, blah... At one point I said to him, "Are you sure that they weren't busting on you? They tend to do that." He's convinced that they were sincere. Anyway this is where my rant ends. Tomorrow, I will enthrall you a photo synopsis of my Father Day adventures. Until then I leave you with the following chain of emails and the question, "Do I send the picture?" Respond gosh darn it or I am shutting this damn blog down. Harumph. -----Original Message----- From: Guilty Party Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 12:48 PM To: Gimlet Subject: FOW -----Original Message----- From: Gimlet Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 12:16 PM To: Guilty Party Subject: RE: FOW I am totally having my red dragon tattoo removed now. -----Original Message----- From: Guilty Party Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 1:17 PM To: Gimlet Subject: RE: FOW That's a great t-shirt! -----Original Message----- From: Gimlet Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 12:27 PM To: Guilty Party Subject: RE: FOW I was going to send the picture to their website but based on the fact that Brian runs it I didn't expect a response. Such is life. -----Original Message----- From: Guilty Party Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 1:49 PM To: Gimlet Subject: RE: FOW You should definitely send it! They might include it on the site. -----Original Message----- From: Gimlet Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 1:55 PM To: Guilty Party Subject: RE: FOW Well, I don't even think that the email would register on their radar and I certainly don't want to become the "crazy" fan as I have no doubt become in your head! Though your conversation certainly opens up the line of communication as in, Well my friend told me that he mentioned my fandom while hanging out the band in Chicago, something along the lines of me being a "the biggest fan ever". There was some claim of remembering my t-shirt from the Roseland show but with all the shows and all the cities I really doubt it stood out. However, for your reference I've attached a picture of said shirt for your reference. You have permission to use it on the site if you like. Most truly, Gimlet's Real Name You should know that I know that you were totally looking out for me on Saturday and I think that it was a very cool thing for you to call me at home. Unfortunately my fandom has become a love/hate situation, mostly because I live in dire fear of them breaking up, 'every show could be the last one' and well my priorities are shifting so it's become significantly more challenging to justify the multiple show attendance. But because I am their most loyal and supportive fan...Actually I'd love to be hooked up with VIP seating at the Winter garden, NYC & NJ State Fair shows since they are not ticketed and are first come first served. I bought tickets for their Philly show and it's GA as well, but it's a charity event so I won't complain. Call your guy! :) Gimlet -----Original Message----- From: Guilty Party Sent: Monday, June 21, 2004 2:09 PM To: Gimlet Subject: RE: FOW Although I thought to have them call you and/or sign something, I didn't want to annoy them. I figured they would me more likely to chat with me if I didn't kiss their ass or make a big deal out of them being in a band. Who knows...maybe he'll email. I'm sure he won't but you never know. This could be the beginning of a long, beautiful relationship between Guilty Party and FOW. Perhaps they'll ask me to be their next manager. (I'm kidding.) I do wish you were there though. They were extremely nice. candid and laid back. We discussed Chicago vs. Boston, Robert Randolph, music, Chris' wife (he showed me a picture of her. she's apparently OKAY THIS IS WHERE I EDIT. THERE'S NO REASON TO PUT HIS WIFE'S AGE OUT THERE years old.), flying vs. riding in a bus, dave matthews, madison wisconsin, etc. Send that letter to the website. posted by JustKeepMum on 9:10 PM | ||
