Little Squaw: Where a good girl goes to rant.
Long time no Squaw. Wednesday, May 26, 2004And a roar of sadness was heard emanating from a million stinky wookie puppy pullers...NEW YORK — Phish (search), the Vermont-based jam band whose legions of dedicated fans made them one of the nation's top touring acts, announced Tuesday that they were breaking up... P.S. I am not being mean. My brother likes Phish and he taught me that wookie phrase. My mole told me (with no request from me to do so)...that my 110% girl was complaining about me asking her to do too much. And while I am very empathetic...as a libra that's my curse...well this is the girl that wants to do everything but if I do a portion she gets upset and if I give it all to her she feels like it's too much. It's a no win situation. I am going to be stuck in LA with her for three days and expected to entertain. My friend from the Island of the Cute boys if you're reading this you know who you are well...I truly hope that he doesn't stand me up. I'll need a night off from the kids. :) And the oddest thing heard in a meeting today..."There's a rumor that Springsteen will be playing at Fenway during the convention..." and someone VERY high up says, "Well someone should call Bruce and find out..." and we all sort of blink at him because we think it's a joke but then we realize how connected this guy is and then we kind of laugh and someone says, "Oh, yeah call Bruce, maybe you could do that?" Tee hee. And Loki, mention was made of your girl and how while she'd make for good a good press stunt but she can't be trusted to coherently string sentences together. It was said in the nicest manner of course. My former intern (she of the lawsuit for stealing music) showed up in my office yesterday and I got to ride her about her LA Wild Child Jet Set ways...getting older will do that to you. And on the music stealing rant, one of my big anti-download arguments has always been about the people behind the scenes who get screwed. The ones who never step on stage or thrust their pelvises at the screaming throng, like the studio techs and art designers etc... My Little Fountains of Wayne friend has a band blog and I found a line on there (not written by him) which really struck a chord with me. "Soon, CD artwork artists will be suing portable MP3 makers for turning people like me and *** into apathetic zombies towards CD artwork." They don't know the half of it. When recently planning for a college tour the idea of creating a game called "Classic Album Covers" came up. However when the interns were polled the results were startling. It became very apparent that because the members Gen Y consume music so differently than those who came before them album artwork doesn't even register with them. U2's "Joshua Tree"? Nada. Nirvana's "In Utero"? Zilch. And that my friend is why the gypsy in New Orleans was correct about me...my sixth sense is amazing! Astounding even! I've been predicting this for years! Though in my opinion, once albums became defunct it all went downhill. They were the perfect size. The best were the ones that opened up and/or had the lyrics on the sleeves. Oh, how I used to love to clutch "St. Pepper's", how I used to hide from Meatloaf's "Bat Out of Hell" and how pretty I thought Bonnie Tyler's eyes were, etc...Of course the old long cardboard boxes that CD's came in (in order to best utilize the album sized bin in record stores I would assume)...well those were great. They were the perfect size for your locker door, which is where "It's a Shame About Ray" rested my Sr. year. Summer Fridays start this week and well that makes tomorrow Friday for me. YIPPEE.
